Vilija graduated from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA in 1989 with a studio arts degree.
After living and working in Arizona and Italy fabricating environments for zoos, aquariums and theme parks, she ended up in the world of film, and then, more specifically, the world of stop-motion animation. There she worked as a mold maker, fabricator and sculptor in San Francisco and L.A. and then moved to Northern England to work at a small but internationally known puppet-making company.
Once back in the States, she left animation to pursue several new paths of interest. But the need to design and create would not let go. So, she left her job, and two babies later, the company Oras was born.
